Very satisfying suspense film with undercurrent of themes of people trying to find meaning in the meaninglessness of tragic events. The whole story is the aftermath of one traumatic event in the beginning.
The theories of the philosophy (?) teacher do not sound very special, at least on the screen, that one wonders how his book is that famous. And the relationship of his theories to the story is not very clear, may be explored in more depth in the novel the film is based on.
In many movies based on books, why does the depth come from the books? Why don't people write books based on movies, but always the other way around?
Very successful use of point-of-view shots, camera movement etc. to enhance the mood and to get into the character's head. The downward spiral of the central character is painted very well.
Similar in some ways to "He Loves Me... He Loves Me Not", but a much better film.
